This laboratory proposes many methods to monitor
the landcover of earth surface by using microwave (L, C, and X bands) to know
the characteristics of vegetation, especially interferometric and polarimetric
SAR techniques are employed to retrieve the tree informations, including 3D tree
mapping. |

Mapping of snow area in
tropical area |

This laboratory employs the polarimetric -
interferometric SAR (Pol-InSAR) and develop original methods to monitor the snow
cover in tropical area, especially at Papua island. This research is focused to
retrieve the correlation between snow change and global
warming. |

Natural resources mapping
using SAR technique |
|
The main objective of this research is to mapping
the natural resources by interpret the earth surface using synthetic aperture
radar. We collaborate with many agency relating the mineral exploration to map
the global natural resources, especially in Asian countries. The multi
polarization microwave is employed to find the accuracy natural resources map.
This result is also used to develop new sensor in our
laboratory. |

Three dimension city
mapping using old maps and satellite images |

This important research is done to build 'Asian
spatial database program' using remote sensing and GIS technique. This program
is established to promote the Asian infrastructure, especially the spatial
information infrastructure. In this program, we collect the old maps as
reference to make scale 1:50 000 maps whole of Asian countries. |

Development of high
resolution - ultra wide band SAR (HiRes-UWB-SAR) |

This laboratory developes many types of next
generation sensors for earth surface monitoring. We propose the synthetic
aperture radar that has high resolution and multi bands. In the future, this
sensor could be employed to retrieve detail information of earth surface,
including natural resources or minerals, vegetation, city mapping, snow area
etc. |

Development of 3D Weather
Radar

In this research, we develop original 3D Weather
Radar that works in 5 GHz and 13 GHz. This radar will be installed in many sites
around Asian countries to profiling the cloud to investigate the phenomenon in
hydrosphere. |

Development of microstrip
antennas for SAR and mobile satellite communications |
|
This is an unique research theme in this
laboratory. In this research, we develop many types of original shape of
microstrip antennas for SAR and mobile satellite communications. Recently, we
received many awards and research grants relating this research. |
